Maryland Transforms: The Strategic Plan

The Maryland State Board and Department of Education have developed a multiyear Strategic Plan composed of three phases leading up to June 2023. The Strategic Plan anchors the vision, mission, values, priorities, enablers, goals, targets, flagship programs, initiatives, and strategies to realize the Blueprint for Maryland's Future promise of an excellent and equitable education for every student.

Final Report: Maryland College and Career Readiness Empirical Study

The Blueprint required MSDE to commission an empirical study of the interim CCR standard and its adequacy to identify the students who have demonstrated their knowledge of English language arts and mathematics that enables the student to be successful in entry level credit bearing courses or postsecondary education training at a State community college. MSDE contracted with the American Institutes for Research (AIR) to conduct a multi-part study of the CCR standard.

Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program

2023 Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) Data will be released at the end of September. MCAP provides information to educators, families and the public on student progress towards proficiency on the Maryland state content standards. Through a strong assessment system, stakeholders gain an understanding of how schools are performing and where assistance can be directed to support student growth and achievement.

National School Lunch Program is Available for Qualifying Children

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost, or free lunches to children each school day. All 24 Maryland public school systems and 22 non-profit private schools and residential childcare institutions participate in the NSLP, providing over 900,000 students with access to nutritious lunches and snacks each day.
